Founded
by husband and wife, Peter and Sharon Stachelek, Team Tamara is named for
their daughter, Tamara (diagnosed with Tuberous Sclerosis at 21 months of
age). Prior to her diagnosis, no one in her family had ever heard of TSC.
Tamara’s TSC was termed mild, however the impact on her, and her family, has
been tremendous. Tamara is now 6 years old, and coping with some developmental
delays, as well as epilepsy which is a common occurrence among patients with
TSC. Team Tamara provides an opportunity to support the organizations which
provide so much for these patients and their families, while also raising
awareness about the condition itself.
Team Tamara is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit, staffed by volunteers, with
oversight by a Board of Directors. Their mission is raising awareness about
Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC), and funds for research and advocacy programs.
Team Tamara's fundraising efforts benefit three organizations:
The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
The Epilepsy Foundation ®
The Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance
