It was another Beautiful day with high temps in the mid 70’s, bright sunshine,
and just a slight hint of a breeze. It was also another great turnout with
117 players coming out to the Team Tamara Fall Invitational that was held
on Friday October 8th. We had a slight delay due to some traffic issues keeping
several of our players from arriving on time. But we only ended up being about
15 minutes late on the start. It looks like we should net about $17,000 this
year, which is a $2,000 increase over last year, and we have already cut checks
to our 3 beneficiaries for $5,000.00 each. We will send additional amounts
as they become available from late donations and corporate matching funds.
Kerry Whitlock from the Epilepsy Foundation came to volunteer with us as she
has for the past 3 years, and presented Team Tamara with a plaque for our
service to the EFA. Josh Ginsberg from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia
played and his Team shot pretty well and had a great time. Our Beneficiaries
have done so much for Tamara over the past few years, and participating with
us really gives them a closer look at what we do and how we raise funds for
their Organizations.
We had two teams shoot 13 under par, and two come in at 11 under, and I was
thrilled to have 2 of the top 3 teams be lead by Advantans this year. One
of them (our second place team) was made up of Kevin O’Connor, Mike Paschal,
Eric Holmquist, and Bill Petraitis, and our third place team included Glen
Roetman, and Vince Kristobak. The 4 teams that had these great scores were
a bit on edge as we went through the tie breaker process, and it was determined
that the Defending Champion, “Team Weaver” had won with an Eagle on the high
handicap hole. I'd like to take this opportunity to announce that we'll be
moving to a playoff format next year instead of the standard Card Off, which
should make things a bit more exciting. A couple of the teams donated their
winnings back to Team Tamara, and we truly appreciate them for doing that!
Thank you to all of our Players, Volunteers, Sponsors, and Donors that helped
make the day another huge success. Everyone who participated that day could
have been somewhere else on a Friday, but they all chose to be with us, and
we truly appreciate each of them as individuals! Team Tamara would like to
again express our sincere thanks to Advanta for their support in the role
of Title Sponsor. Everyone that is involved with us helps to create a brighter
future for people who have TSC, and Epilepsy. We see that future as getting
brighter each and every day!
